When you head away for the weekend it’s an escape from real life, a chance to rest, relax and recover.
What goes with stepping away is minimalism - leaving behind the day to day excesses and packing light.
For women, think a pair of jeans, a t-shirt or two and jacket that can be dressed up or down, perhaps a dress and a couple of pairs of shoes. For men it’s a lot easier. Chuck a pair of shorts or jeans into a backpack along with a t-shirt and collared shirt in case you head out for a nice dinner.
What I love most about getting away is leaving behind the work bag filled with, to be honest, who knows. Mine has everything in there from notebooks to diaries, random pieces of paper, a couple of makeup bags, pens and hand cream.
It’s not a pretty sight!
You also don’t need what I call the mum purse, with slots for dozens of cards and all that space for coins and cash.
We’re developing into a cashless society, especially with the ease of pay wave so this is also a chance to streamline, perhaps permanently.
Do you need more than your credit card when you go on holiday? Ok, perhaps bring along your drivers license or some form of ID.
